Atlas Copco brings energy efficiency of centrifugal compressors to a whole new level
October 27, 2015, Wuxi, China: Atlas Copco has launched a new, highly energy-efficient centrifugal compressor ZH 630-1600 range, which saves 5% - 7% energy compared to the previous generation and brings the energy efficiency to the next level.
The new ZH 630-1600 range employs advanced aerodynamics to reduce energy consumption in the core. All the components such as the backward leaning impeller, carbon ring air seals and inlet guide vanes, are designed to lower the pressure drops and air leakage, which saves up to 7% energy compared to the previous model, a drastic reduction for centrifugal compressors. As energy consumption constitutes about 80% of the life cycle cost of a compressor, users will benefit from the energy efficiency of new ZH range, reducing the overall total cost of ownership. Besides, the highly-efficient motor will also contribute to a lower electricity bill.
Reliability is essential to compressors. To guarantee maximum uptime and ensure continuous production for the users, ZH 630-1600 range employs high-end components such as variable geometry flexible pad bearings, carbon ring air seals, AGMA A4 gears and stainless steel coolers for trouble-free performance and longer lifetime. Milled impellers made from 15-5 ph stainless steel, spin tested at 115% of the nominal speed ensure zero defects.
ZH 630-1600 range is delivered in a plug-and-play package with internal piping, coolers, motor, lubrication, inlet guide vanes and control system included, which enables fault-free installation, quick commissioning and easier maintenance.
“The existing range of ZH centrifugal compressors has already been considered a benchmark for energy efficiency and reliability. The introduction of this new range will raise the bar even higher.” says Dirk Beyts, General Manager of Atlas Copco Compressor Technique Business Area China Customer Center, “As a leading provider of sustainable productivity, Atlas Copco will bring more innovations to the energy efficient compressed air solutions, and help our customers, who are under pressure from the slowdown of manufacturing sector, to increase their productivity with maximized cost efficiency.”
