Atlas Copco Drilling Equipment Assisted Emergency Rescue in Datong Coal Mine

At 18:15pm, April 19, 2015-China, water inrush accident occurred in Jiangjiawan of Datong coal mine, Shanxi Province, Atlas Copco XRXS1275 Portable Compressor and Drilling 

Rigs RD20 took part in the emergency rescue, the efficient drilling operations won time for rescue, which made the emergency rescue expand smoothly.

In the construction site, the rescue team rushed to Datong at the first time when they heard of the accident, and carried out the rescue work. 

It’s found through the camera that the tunnel below the drill is dry, with scattered belts, the coal mine has not yet been submerged, and there were signs of survivors, the field

 personnel immediately drilled holes to convey nutrients to the tunnel and carried out rescues. 

The rescue adopted Atlas Copco Drilling Rig RD20 and equipped an Atlas Copco Portable compressor XRXS1275、XRYS1260、XRVS476. Even in the extremely

 harsh environment, the drilling rigs drilled holes quickly. A hole, 250m deep and 455mm diameter, was finished only in 9 hours with the drilling speed 20m/h. April 21, 3:00 am,

 the No.1 drill hole was broken through, and at 7:10 am, the No. 2 drill hole was broken through. Atlas Copco drilling solutions ensured the smooth progress of the rescue plan.

The scene of the accident had big sandstorm. After dozens of hours of rescue, the last one of the victims in the accident was found at 3:35am 

today (April 23). So far, the rescue has been finished already. 21 persons were killed in the coal mine water inrush accident, three persons 

were rescued.
